Hello, gonna start blogging again more often... even if its just small posts.. who reads them anyways. The Soundtrack of World of Goo is fucking amazing, its really fun to listen too and its well produced. This soundtrack feels more like a movie than a game, it also reminds me Tim Burton's stuff, not sure.. but I can picture it on a movie of him. Download it here:
Also for this month I did a new game for the game website I did back in august, PH GAMING, look for it here: , the site is under the name of Primera Hora, but pretty much it stands alone with its own audience, the site on its first 3 monthas already had over +54,000 visits, and actually right now it might be doubled becuase of the christmas game that was released last month.
The new game available is called GREED, is pretty simple, but has some strategy and some psychological meaning to it, go to the website and play it.
Right now I am doing a Guitar Hero kind of game for an American Idol type of contest but in spanish, its coming out really good, ill keep posting about it.
See ya.

FUCK SUNRAYS VECTOR BACKGROUND
I know I haven't posted in a while but I really need to say this: FUCK SUNRAYS VECTOR BACKGROUNDS. You know what I am talking about I am 200% sure you already seen it, if you haven't you are blind or died couple years ago because the Sunrays Vector Background is used a lot by moronic so called graphic designers and actually (maybe) is not even their fault but their clients or account executives that think its cool, but guess what, is not ( at least 3 years ago).
Sunrays vector backgrounds its so overused is not even funny, a year ago I said damn I should write about this overused technique.. but since I am a nice person I gave it a break, but still its been overused maybe more than ever... CAN'T PEOPLE LEAVE IT TO REST? This site even talks about it as the #1 most over used graphic design technique, enter site .
In case you still not sure what I am talking about look here:

Familiar? of course.. its EVERYWHERE... cheap agencies use it on their clients products.. because its "COOL" the worst thing is that they might think is a new technique, but ITS STUPID if you go around the street and you look at billboards 2 or 3 out of five have it (at least here in Puerto Rico). I should take pictures next time but it is that bad. Sometimes I htink what the hell they were thinking when they did a sunray vector background based ad.
Dramatization (may be 100% accurate):
Client: I want my product to look hip and trendy eventhou it is not at all.
Account Executive from an incompetent agency (most of them): Oh yeah lets see we can try something new, never used before and it will shit brick on peoples faces of how awesome it will be. Lets put the product on the middle and put.. put.. something like lighting on the background like a glow or sunrays (considering the incompetent fucker already seen the sunray vector backgorund).
Client: Yeah, that's it like sun rays, that will be so radical and new. Here is a pic of the product.

Account Executive from an incompetent agency (most of them): Great ill get my graphic designer and do it in no time.
Couple wasted days later...
Mediocre Graphic Designer with half-assed degree: This art took me a lot of hours, but I came up with a nice background related to the sun ray concept (considering he aleready seen the sunray vector crap and just downloaded already done brushes and vector patterns of sun rays by somebody else like these).
Account Executive from an incompetent agency (most of them are): Oh great, great let's see it.

Client annoyingly impressed: Thats what I wanted, its so new and trendy, this will catch the eye of the consumer (fact: since 80% of the ads around use the same concept all looks the same and generic and to be honest 95% of the time I don't recall what the hell the AD was about, honestly).
Couple fruitless days later.
Angry Client: People are complaining that our product art is copied or way too similar from our rivals and other products ads. We want something different.
Account Executive from an more than ever incompetent agency (most of them are): REally? That is so bad I dont thinks it looks the same, but yeah, I think they copied our style (completely naive), don't worry our graphic designer will fix it.
Couple more days wasted.
Completely Mediocre Graphic Designer with half-assed degree: Yeah I tried something even more new, that no one has ever done before (considering he or she donwloaded new brushes or vector patterns), here it is.

And of course everyone thought it was a genius piece of art and probably got an award.
I know I did a dramatization but guess what I might not be far from the truth because if you go out now on the streets and look around or in websites or magazines you will see the infamous sunray vector backgrounds. I think a real graphic desginer will never used that piuece of shit unless its product is unfortunately tied to it from its past or you have an account executive pointing a needle with aids to your neck. I bet I can take a piece of shit, put a sunray vector backgorund to it and agencies will love it. THe thing is, somehow in agencies and its abused not skill enough designers are realizing that the sunray vector backgrounds are being overused (too late in the game) so they are doing variations of it, by twirling the rays or making it more circular, hell, I already seen 3 pieces of ads this week around using circular rays. The twirled ones already been around too little more time.
Besides the sunrays htere are plenty more techniques overdone, like the victorian type of sign, couple months ago it was funny because a fast food restaurand and a car company used the same donwloaded victorian sing on their ads the same week... it was THE SAME, its was a real sad day for those agencies, the truth came out account executives know shit and their grap[hic designers download brushes and patterns instead of creating. Fuck them.
Well that's it for now... Avoid using sunrays as backgrounds, post-its for text back ground (I am excused cause I worked an actual POst-it website so fuck you), dirty textures, victorian signs, silouhettes of people dancing, funky circles, stupid droplets (like the ones in asshole), ink splatters, notebook Sketched child like letterss, and many more stuff, be creative and oh yeah people started using Little Big Planet type of design around... what the fucking hell.
If you read this and you feel insulted... sorry to hurt your so-called graphic design feelings, FUCK OFF.
